DCBS Media ReleaseMarch 19, 2001 Oregon revokes Vancouver insurance agent's licensesSALEM – The Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) has revoked the nonresident insurance agent's license of a Ridgefield, Washington man, Garey G. Bergeson, for violating the Oregon Insurance Code. The license of Bergeson's agency, Hansen-McDonald Insurance (HMI) in Vancouver, also was revoked. An investigation by the Insurance Division of DCBS found that Bergeson had violated Oregon laws in three instances by illegally withholding insurance premiums and failing to deposit premiums into an premium trust account. He also misrepresented the terms of an insurance policy in three instances and misrepresented information to an insurance company in one instance. HMI's license was revoked because Bergeson owned the agency and was employed as an individual licensee of the firm. Bergeson and HMI are prohibited from selling or servicing insurance policies in Oregon. He agreed to the revocation and a lifetime ban from working in the insurance industry in Oregon. |
